NHS Scotland includes Electronic Cigarettes
New NHS guidance in Scotland is now recognising the increasing popularity of electronic cigarettes.
In the past some services such as group counselling have turned away those using ecigarettes as part of their attempts to quit smoking, and denying them services which may improve their chances of quitting.
Numbers of those using NHS services to quit smoking was down 13 percent on the previous year and it was thought this could be because of the rise in use of ecigarettes.
Increased interest has led to them revisiting previous guidance and extending NHS quitting services to give extra support to those using ecigarettes with the aim to remove reliance on nicotine entirely.
