The Soaring Popularity of Electronic Cigarettes
For all the smokers out there, electronic cigarettes are undoubtedly the latest trend to smoke in style. Their popularity is growing day-by-day in the UK according to studies and figures.
The recent figures from Action on Smoking (ASH) show that there has been a significant increase in the number of smokers using e-cigarettes. As of 2010, it was just 3% and now in 2012 the figure has risen to 7%, more than double! This shows between 650,000 to 700,000 smokers in Britain.
Along with this, there is a great increase in the number of people who have tried e-cigarettes. Figuresshow it has gone up from 9% in 2010 to 22% in 2012. With their growing craze, the World Health Organisation believes that this figure is sure to reach one million by the next year.
Workplaces are also not left untouched with the rising popularity of e-cigarettes. As told to BBC Radio 5 Live by Katherine Devlin, the President of The Electronic Cigarette Industry Trade Association, “Smoking an electronic cigarette at work should be regarded in the same way as having a cup of coffee on your desk. If that is allowed in your workplace, then e-cigarettes should be allowed too.”
Owing to the presence and acceptance of e-cigarettes, these are surely here to stay for long, and when you have so many choices of flavours to enjoy puffing, electronic cig would rise in popularity, giving a completely new and exciting experience to smokers.
