E-cigarettes and safety
The all important question is E-cigarettes and safety.
E-cigarettes and safety, this comes up time and time again in the media with many contradicting stories and views.
Experts at the Royal College of Physicians have said that although not possible to exactly measure the long-term health risks associated with e-cigarettes, the data that they do have shows there is a huge advantage and benefit to be had in smokers replacing cigarettes with an e-cigarette. Their figures show that e-cigarettes do not exceed 5% of those associated with smoking cigarettes and the harm done maybe significantly lower than this.
Despite the conflicting reports on e-cigarettes both the scientific and public health government companies in the UK are in agreement that e-cigarettes are not as damaging as tobacco in cigarettes. There has been a consensus statement and along with Cancer Research UK, The British Lung Foundation and the Royal Society for Public Health all of whom have said "We all agree that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful than smoking".
Scientists from various different areas will carry on their investigations and the impact the e-cigarette product has on both people and the environment. In the meantime, the new report is quite clear, that people that are smoking and wish to give up can use e-cigarettes as a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes.
