Ecigarette users triple to 2.1 million
Users of ecigarettes have tripled from around 700,000 to 2.1 million in just three years with more than half of smokers saying they have tried them.
Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) surveyed more than 12,000 adult smokers. Current smokers regularly using ecigs has risen from 2.7% to 17.7% in just 4 years.
Deborah Arnott who is the chief executive of Ash said "The dramatic rise in use of electronic cigarettes over the past four years suggests that smokers are increasingly turning to these devices to help them cut down or quit smoking. Significantly, usage among non-smokers remains negligible.
